Default 2001 transmission mount modification to older style

I have a 2001 xj and bought a new Mopar transmission mount for 99 and back. I know they are different with one centered and one offset. I have read a little that you can drill new holes in the 2001 crossmember to make the older centered mount fit but i am not 100% sure that is all you have to do. I am just asking if it will work and do i have to do anything else to adapt my older style mount to the newer crossmember? Also will my transmission be in line after the modification? Thanks Mike.

I have wondered about this for sometime.
The price of a '00/'01 Mopar mount, assuming you can find one, is so much more then a '99 and down Mopar one.
Have all sorts of questions but no answers.
I don't believe the AW4 in an '00/'01 is different where the mount attaches.
So if that is the case is it the crossmember?
Cause I was thinking you just use a '99 and down crossmember with the mount.
But then what I can't past is why the change?
The only thing I can think of might be cause of the exhaust but......
Be looking forward to the responses on this one.

Yes the crossmember has different mounting holes then the previous years. This is because of the exhaust. The difference in location for mounting seems to only be half an inch but i want to make sure it will work before i take everything apart. Just put in brown dog motor mounts yesterday.
