2001 XJ Auto Jolts On Highway after Long Rides
Hello Everyone,
Once again I'm having a problem with my Jeep . Guess that's what happens with 190,000 miles on the odometer.
Anywho, this started a while back in very moderate occurrences and has progressively gotten worse. I'm driving on the highway at about 70 to 75 (though lately it has also occured at 50+ MPH). I'm about 50+ miles into my trip. I encounter a small hill either going up or down (happens mostly after going down a hill then climbing a hill). The entire Jeep jolts like the driveshaft locked up for a split second. It happens very quick and doesn't effect the RPMs. I have only had this happen in OD and seems to occur most between 2000 and 2200 RPMs, with or without the A/C on though it seems like the A/C makes the problem occur more often.
This problem started about 10,000 miles back with just one occurance on a 1,400 mile road trip. I just got back from driving 200 miles and it occured probably 30 times.
The engine light isn't on nor is the computer throwing any codes.
Here's what I've tried:
- Alternator and Battery seem to check out (had the guys at Autozone run a test on the battery while the Jeep with the the motor off then running)
- Sparkplugs and Coil Rail are new
- Just changed the differential fluid
- Drained and filled the transmission fluid (came out looking pretty good)
- CPS is new
Any ideas on something I'm missing here? I'm getting pretty frustrated with this one. Thanks for your help and hope to hear from you soon!
-Mike
