2001 xj crank no start
Hi all, I’m back again with yet another problem. My jeep runs fine when it is running but lately it has been taking longer and longer to start. Today it quit. cranked for ever but never starts. I tracked down a couple of posts that lead to the problem being a crank position sensor i replaced that and nothing. I made sure i was getting fuel and spark i was getting fuel buff no spark. I replaced the coil and all the plugs with spares still nothing even checked the cam position sensor and that looked fine. I Checked all my fuzes all good. Checked the ADS relay and it clicks when the key is turned(assuming that works). I got my hands on a scanner and got a p1389 code ads low voltage at pcm. Is that a new brain? What else could be causing this before i spend that money? Anyone have similar issues? Thanks.

Have you checked with different relay yet?
Clicking isn't always a reliable sign of proper function in a relay.
The longer and longer cranking times is not typical for a relay failure. Seems more like some failing connection or current flow.

Timing is managed by PCM, not much what you can change therefor.
Check if everything is seated and connected correctly.
You dont have the distributor, otherwise I'd say recheck your plugwire sequence. I am not familiar with the coil pack setup, but I'd reckon it would be difficult to get that connected incorrectly?
The CAM sensor, from memory, can not be installed in many ways, perhaps even only one. Make sure its seated correctly and connected correctly. It could also be faulty itself.
Equally important: What brand CPS did you put in?

He might have used a Haynes or Chilton to put the dizzy back together. If he did, it will never run.
Max, those garbage manuals have the incorrect wiring for the distributor. Check your work against this CORRECT layout:
Distributor to spark plug wiring.
