My 01 cherokee engine has gotten a grim diagnosis from an accurate and reputable jeep technician. It has suffered from the cracked cylinder head mentioned here: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/00-...erview-118922/. While it is my understanding that this issue could be resolved by switching to an aftermarket head if you catch it in time, the problem has been around undiagnosed for about 25000 miles.

I'm looking for suggestions for where I might find a reliable source for a rebuilt engine that would work in my cherokee but is not from 99-01 (the head problem years). I'm in Massachusetts, so anywhere on the east coast that could ship would be fair game.

I'm also shopping around for someone reputable who might be able to do the installation. My normal tech is up to his neck in custom work right now and can't take on an engine project, so I am putting out the word here looking for ideas of where to look/recommendations. I'm located in the Boston area, so if anyone knows a good guy in Eastern MA, I would be eternally grateful.
