Default 2001 xj stalling

I bought my xj about 6 months ago with about 82,000 miles.. Virgin for a cherokee. However, within the second month the damn thing overheated, went on to change thermostat and flush the cooling system which was gunked up with what seemed to be rust, fixed the problem.

Fastfoward 2 months, went to golf range and upon leaving turned my xj on, backed out placed in drive then engine shuts off on me. Started it up after a couple tries drove about 20 yards shuts off again. I get picked up by a friend and leave the jeep for a couple hours come back and the damn thing starts up as normal and drives normal. Took it to mechanic and change spark plugs for a little tune up.
Within a month it happens again, this time i changed the cps sensor which seemed to be the culprit. Worked for another month then nope still gonna stall on me. This time engine light came on and changed the temperature sensor because codes were being sent out for it. *During all of this no check engine light came on until the temp senor went bad*

I notice everytime my jeep stalls the temp gauge goes all the way down then a couple seconds go by and it dies. Could the bad temp sensor have been the culprit the whole time causing the engine to shut off due to a extremely wrong reading?
Please leave some input I can't enjoy my XJ with all this stalling!
Thanks!

Are you throwing any codes? Honestly I have no idea what's up with that but I'd assume if the sensor is telling the jeep it's starting too cold it is entirely possible. Should cost less than 25$ for the part, might as well change it and see, worst case scenario, you got a new part. Haha.
