Default 2014 Jeep Cherokee 6Cyl 4WD bangs in 5th

Hi and I have a new 2014 Cherokee and love it except if "bangs" a bit when going from 4th to 5th gear. Is this normal ?

Thanks

^This, and yes it is "normal" (unless it is really rough), the dog-clutches used in the ZF 9-speed aren't as "gentle" as the plate/band clutches used in most automatics. A software update may help a little (if your Jeep didn't ship with the latest version) but even with the latest software the ZF 9-speed isn't as smooth as most traditional automatics.

The link in this post will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the ZF 9-speed: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f87/in...ftware-188386/
