Default 231 vs 242 tail cone/ rear extension housing

Are they interchangable? Or would you need to get one specifically from whatever tcase you have?

What year? What engine?

The '97+ 242 w/4.0 just uses a rear output bearing retainer and not an extension. The '96 and below uses a retainer and an extension.

More aftermarket support, doesn't hang down as low, and you can run a full SYE.

If you drive on snow and ice I'd keep it.
