Default 242 T/c in XJ from factory ?

Did XJ's come with the 242's also, or just the 231 T/c ?

You dont like the 242 huh? Reason I was asking about the swap is I just bought a GC with a 242 and will probably be selling my XJ which has a recently rebuilt 231.
I had thought about swapping them and putting the rebuilt 231 in the GC I was going to keep and letting the 242 go with the XJ. Then I would know I had a good T/c and Id be able to run a SYE if i kept the 231

You can get a SYE for a 242......

I have a 231 in my wheeler... Its fine for that... but I wish it had the 242 when it was a DD.

Only thing I have found on a 242 SYE is a hack and tap, or a professional hack and tap from Tom Woods...
I really dont think I would ever use the full time 4wd feature of a 242, its not a DD.
