Default 2wd to 4x4

I just purchased a 2000 jeep cherokee xj 4x4 from a friend for $450 engine transfer case transmission all good but body is rusted out very bad can I just take all 4x4 parts off and bolt in a 2wd jeep and what year jeepS can I use with out haveING yo make modifications I would like to be able to just bolt everything up

For everything to work properly the other body would need to be a 00/01 as they were bastard yrs. with a lot of changes from prior years. You will need to swap out the ECU also I think all wiring is in place on the 2wd's that is needed for 4wd.


In addition it changed to a coil pack ignition those 2 yrs also added additional emissions sensors in exhaust to run the computer properly. An earlier model swap could be done but not worth the trouble IMHO, others may have a different opinion.
