you dont have to have them the under body (t case, trans member, drive lines, etc) arent made of playdoh they will take some beatin...if you wheel hard on rocks alot you are bound to break some S***& eventually. but if you read my last post i was kidding. i have diff skids and i also have a steel diamond plate gas tank skid, and im planning a underbelly skid for my xj.

oh and when i said i like my lift.....i was refering to previous post in this thread about stock set ups vs lifting and how they compare....not weather i should skid or not.

Agreed. I found this out the hard way. 4" lift and 33's (tj) and first rock obstacle i ever tried ended up with a dented oil pan. Now my rig's fully skidded except the gas tank. Lookin for something to throw on that.

does everyone have to be a smart azz? ive banged on all of em a little here and there...of course hitting hard will bust a case and sheetmetal dents but damn you dont have to have a bomb proof jeep to wheel on mild trails...but i too strongly recomend skids and gaurds because you can always slam on rocks... lol

not being a smart***.
I would hate for someone to come on here thinking they can drag their stock jeep over boulders, then come back and complain that they cracked their transfercase and tore their crossmember off

thats why i said cleary if you wheel rocks alot you are bound to break something without skids.....but the occasional pass over with a few bump ups proly wont destroy everything. skids are a must unless you have a+ spotter watching every move with lots of finess...lol good lookin out guess i didnt realize howmany people dont read through all post and take things differently. i guess someone could have said hey i dont need em...and bash away...thanks ktm.

Looking For Better Shocks
I installed A RE 3.5 super ride kit w/ full rear leafs. I ordered Pro comp ES3000 because of price. I know from what I've read they're going to ride hard. This is a daily driver only. Any suggestions on a the softest riding riding shock i can put on there? Thanks

Hello! I'm 56 years old, falling apart, and just got 2005 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with left side trail rated emblem if that means anything, I'm still not sure. I'm too new. I love the strong will of these posting madmen, and I mean that in a very good way, who have achieved marvel stuff that I love to gaze at and wonder if it's not really a tank at this point of modification. I have learned so much here with my two days of reading all your posts. I am a firm believer that whatever modifications are being made, they must suit the terrain being traveled. My question is, what in the world can my stock 2005 Grand Cherokee do, or not do, that requires modifications.? What off-road experience can i enjoy right now being completely stock? I really do love the large tire look on small frame, no matter how functional it may ever be. I'm new and clueless and love reading your input. Thanks!
