350 swap on an 86 v6
I just got an 86 v6 cherokee pioneer. It was my grandmas till she passed away a couple months ago and my 1990 integra just crapped out so my uncle gave me the cherokee. Any way, that v6 has no power and switching from a 150 hp on a 1800 lb car to whatever hp is in that v6 with all that body weight is starting to nag on me. I've heard of people doing 350 swaps on their cherokees and I was wondering what all would be involved, both cost and work, to swap a 350 into my cherokee. Keep in mind its an auto and I would like to keep the transmission to save some money and work.

You cannot keep the factory tranny. The 350 will not bolt up to it. You will need a tranny as well. You will also have to modify the nose to the 4.0 radiator and the hood also. The tranny tunnel is big enough. Basically though, you will end up replacing everything.
You will be far better off bolting a 3.4L to it. Then you can keep the tranny and make very few mods.

If you dont have much money you had better keep what you have right now or you will get part way into it and run out of money and have nothing to drive, common sence goes alonggggggggggggg way bud try thinking here a bit. Changeing motors isnt cheap.

I appreciate the advice 100% but as I said I am on a tight budget. I'll probably just leave it for now I hate the fact that it takes 20 plus seconds to get to 60 mph on a flat road
