20 seconds to 60?? you try any bolt ons for additional throttle responce and some hp? you should try those first before making that big of a step, but theres nothing wrong with wishful thinking

Try this take and do a whole tune up, plugs wires ,try the firpower set in summit or qaudratec.com. Get champion truck plugs from napa, new fuel filter , spectra air filter. Then later on if you have a throttle body (I'm not sure whats on top of a 2.8) you could get a 60 or 62mm t/b.You could also change your gearing for more pep on the throttle.

One cheap thing you can do is the Bosch +4 plugs. I did this and got an extra 1000 rpms on the top end with the horsepower to go with it. Not V8 performance, but the biggest bang for the buck here.
Look into the 3.4L Camaro engine. It is the cheapest, the same as the price of an adapter and it is bolt in. 160 hp is still respectable.

one problem..... I don't how many of you know this but it's carburated. So no throttle body spacers.... And the engine was just rebuilt. It's got fairly new plugs, plug wires, air filter, and its got a brand new oil filter and radiator. That 3.4l camaro engine, it bolts direct to the tranny?

Yes it is a direct bolt in. It is the same block with some improvements in seals and breathing capability. The only real difference is that you must use the Camaro flex plate, or knock the balancing weight off the Jeep flex plate. The 3.4 is internally balanced as opposed the 2.8 which is externally balanced.

Are they any issues with dropping a 3.4l in there? like do have to do anything ghetto with the wiring or with fitting it in there? And do I need new motor mounts and radiator?

How much should I be expecting to pay for one?

I would upgrade with a two core radiator over the stock single core. Wiring depends on which engine you get. If you use the fuel injected versions, then you need the wiring with it. Motor mounts are the same.

But then I gotta deal with putting in the ecu and computer and I figure a hell of a lot of relays and wiring. How hard was it for you? I'm guessing you kept the fuel injection?

I used a Painless wiring kit, so it was easy and I mounted the ECM in the stock position. The two look the same on the outside so that was a bolt in. You probably have one under the dash too if you have the electronic carb. The hardest part of that is that you need to add the Jeep coolant temp sensor and oil sensor. Not hard, but you end up with two systems. Only two extra wires and a little plumbing.
