Ok so i have a 87 Cherokee 4.0 liter.....I ran it out of gas and it sat for 3 days I filled it up and it started up fine ran it for about 30 mins and it died...It will start fine but is rough and sputters on idle and a little bit of throttle. is it a fuel rail or fuel pressure problem or is it PCM problem...Im not good with motors but some advice would be nice...thanks guys

If you do not know much about motors I will assume you do not have anyway to check fuel pressure,so I will suggest changing your fuel filter to start and see if it helps,the fuel filter is located under the left rear on frame. Was it running just fine before you ran it out of fuel?

yeah, running out of fuel can suck up and the sludge and gunk and stuff in the bottom of the tank, thereby clogging or severly restricting the fuel filter...

At least, that's what my pops used to tell me as a kid, I've never run out of gas so I don't know, lol...

Yeah it ran fine before I ran it out of fuel....its weird though I took all the airbox off and and the airbox hose to the intake and started it it ran fine i drove it down the street and back home it had a little miss like the plugs were fowling but thats it.

and I unhooked the gas line at the filter and turned the pump on pumped fine so im guessing the filters not clogged

how dirty is your air filter? I would change your air filter for the hell of it, its cheap. While your at it I would put in a can of fuel injector cleaner and maybe change the fuel filter if you dont know when the last time it was changed is...

not to bad...its got more oil in it than anything why I have no clue but I planned on replacing that when i get my plugs and wires....do you think to much oxygen is causing it to sputter?? running to rich?

what is the cylinder order of a 87 4.o liter cherokee? i got the firing order jus need the cylinder order
