Those will create hot spots on the piston unless they are addressed and they may cause any number of problems. It may or may not physically do anything, but it won't be business as usual with those chunks there. You also have to think about why those chunks are there to begin with. Will it continue?

Dunno man. Unless you have an eye on another engine I wouldn't bet my current motor on it. I'd take care of it while its salvageable.

Default Cylinder Head Bolt Positions?

Hi Everyone,
I am getting ready to put my cylinder head on but I have two questions. First, I have cylinder head with casting #0630. The head bolts are 12 point SAE Type. I need to know on the passenger side in what bolt position do the two bolts go that are not the same as the others. They have like a little stud on them? Secondly, which bolt is it that gets threat sealer and is their anything else special I need to do ? I am using the manual but its not so clear. Thanks

I believe it is thread 11 with the sealer. Lay your valve cover gasket down on the top of your head and it will show where the two different bolts go.

If my memory serves (and I'm at the bar right now.....so have a grain of salt) the bolt at the top of the thermo housing gets the rtv sealant .......one of the others you mention goes at the right rear where the ground braid attaches...the other one I don't remember.

Default Making progress need help with electric fan!

Alright so I got my new head installed and my cherokee started up and is running. Now I need help with the next issue. The electric fan does not turn on even when I switch the A/C on. I checked my ground to the aux fan relay it was good. I placed a fused jumper in the relay position pins 1 and 4 and the fan started running. After that I put the old relay back in and unplugged the temp sensor in the T-Housing and the fan started running. When I plugged the the sensor back in it stoped. I went to buy a new sensor from the dealer but the one they said fits my 1996 Jeep Cherokee does not fit the connector. Instead the sensor for a 1998 Cherokee does. So I had no choice but to take the one for the 1998. I even gave one dealer my vin number and it still called out for the wrong sensor. I had the 1998 style sensor in there before when the fan was working. So to sum this up. I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 4.0l. The electric fan is not working even with the A/C on. I installed a new Temp sensor in T-Housing. The fan only works if I jumper the relay connector or unplug the temp sensor. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

the a/c side of the aux fan circuit is controlled by the low pressure switch not the thermostat switch. It's on top of the accumulator. Make sure it's connected. You can jumper it to see if its a bad switch or it the system pressure really is too low.

hmm never heard of that before there should definitely be a electrical connector and low pressure switch up there. Is it the right one for the vehicle?
