I was out the other day, and I went to climb a muddy hill, went to put it in 4 lo, and it popped out, I tried it again, same thing, I held the shift lever in 4 low and it popped out, but the lever stayed in low when I held it there. 4 high works fine, and has never popped out.I think it may be the gears in the transfer case are gummed up, especially in 4 low because I don't use it as much as 4 high, but I have heard that it may also be the chain. its a 94 XJ any help would be appreciated

how do you adjust the likaga i have to do the same because mine is hard to shift in and out of 4wd

Do yourself a favor, buy a Haynes manual. and go by the instructions in there

Sounds like your shifter linkage is out of adjustment.

I am hoping it's something I can adjust myself, like the linkage, My buddy has a Haynes manuel I will borrow til I can get one for myself. Thanks guys, I appreciate it, I will let you know how it goes Thanks again
