My lights been out for years. Don't care to take apart the dash or the sensor just to get the light to come on.

The post DIRECTLY above yours (posted 4 hours prior to yours as well) indicates that they can tell by the way it's driving that it's not engaging into 4wd...

So, instead of troubleshooting and asking more questions, you just throw a part at it? I don't think so...

Exactly. And don't say he's getting "huffy" when he called you on your BS. We're here to help people, and jumping to conclusions without digging into the problem properly wastes peoples time and money. If you want to give advice, do your due diligence to make sure your advice is good.

Reminds me that I need to take a look at mine. It's never worked since I've had this vehicle. It looks in the circuit diagram for the 231 that if the wires to the switch are bridged together the light should come on if the bulb and wiring are good. In that case it is probably the switch. (The transfer case is definitely engaging 4WD.)

It's not a biggie, easy enough to tell whether 4WD is engaged by glancing at the lever. So it's not been much of a priority.

Mine doesn't work because I converted mine to 4wd and haven't bothered to figure out how to hook them up. Don't really care to either. Like ya said, pretty easy to tell from the shift lever.
