4wd issue question

k... thats what I assumed it was. Its a AW4, and If you plan on staying on here, it would be a good idea to add that to your jeeps info..
some random info:
Transfer Case Compatibility The Jeep AW4 was factory-married to the Jeep New Process (aka New Venture) Model 231 transfer case, in addition to the NP242 Full-Time transfer case.
some random info:
- The earlier Jeep AW4 has a 21 spline output shaft for connecting to the transfer case input shaft.
- With the release of the HO 4.0L in the 1991 the AW4 was upgraded to a 23 spline output shaft.
- The AW4 may be identified as model #40-30LE for 4wd versions. and as model #30-43LE for 2wd versions.

well i talked wife into the money. picked up the 231 transfer from the local for 125. he even gave me the front drive shaft because he didnt want to take it off so worked out pretty good. and its a 21 spline. he thought he had a 91 jeep but when he found the bill of sale it said 89 so its same year as mine. im happy
