4WD Problem
So when I am driving my 97' at a low speed (usually under 5mph) in 4WD (command trac) the turning is extremely hard. It feels almost as if I have no power steering but its full and there's no problem at higher speeds. Mostly happens when im parking.
Also something weird happened to me the other day...I was driving in 4WD and was going along nicely for a couple of minutes and then randomly it popped out of 4WD into neutral. I tried putting the lever back to 4WD and it started to grind, then i put the truck in neutral while coasting down the road and tried it again and it still was grinding...had to pull over to fix it.

You are aware command trac 4 wheel drive is to be used only on dirt roads, off road or snow packed surfaces?

1.) Get new tires
2.) That 4x4 system is really only meant for the off-road action. Trails, dirt paths, snow. You can easily damage the system if your putting around town all day in 4x4.
I really wouldn't even engage it unless you will benefit from 4x4. Most paths, even with a touch of mud, and the gravel roads will be just fine in RWD.
If you wanna put around in 4WD all day get a Jeep with the NP242 transfer case.

I got a friend who was obsessed with his 4x4 lever.
if there was snow on the ground... not the road... the ground... he was in 4wd.
His front driveshaft makes a wicked noise (probably output shaft is trashed)
Don't be my friend... uh i mean don't drive in 4wd... only when you're off paved roads.
