Default 650 for a 94 ax-15. Is that good?

A guy is selling me 94 ax-15 for 650. Is that pretty good? I think it's a bit over priced but I want to ask some of the guys that have done a BA to AX swap.

Yeah my junkyards aren't as giving and are hard to find. Also it came out of a 95 wrangler. And he will give me a year warranty since he's a mechanic.

$650 seems high to me. A friend of mine just installed a rebuilt Jasper AX15 for $1,000. So if you have the $650, you can save up another $350 and buy a rebuilt one. I would see if he could sell it to you for about $400.

yea i called up the guy and asked to lower it but he doesnt want to since its been rebuilt. Lol
He didnt tell me that.
Says its got new gears, bearings, synchros, and gaskets.
Hmmmmm fully rebuilt. Now with that being said is it still worth it.
And its off a wrangler, But it should fit right?

inspect it, and get receipts... .or walk away. I used to rebuild them and would always provide all of the paper work.

Yeah Im going to have to check it out.
Im probably going to pass on it since my peugot is in ok condition. Hard shifting but not a pain.

Plus the BA-10 swap to AX looks a bit complicated reading all the write ups on naxja. I think its too much for me to handle, but dont wanna shell out 300 bucks for someone to install it. Oh well

I got my AX-15 for $150. After I got it home I found a rebuilt stamp on it. And ecivence that it had never been installed. I got lucky!

I did the whole BA/10 to Ax-15 swap for ~$750 or so, I am including trailer rental to get my Jeep home when the PSH1T went boom 100 miles from home. Gas for the tow rig (4 MPG) A few tools, JY parts I never needed, and paying a friend to use his lift. Took about 2 months to do, doing 95% of the work myself in the evenings. Rebuilt the transfer case while it was out, new seals and swapped out the input shaft and bearing. Walk in the park.

hardest thing about it was the research involved.

you can get a rebuilt one off of ebay for 700, and a local jeep builder charges 850 for one, so if its straight from the jy then yea its overpriced
