87 Cherokee tv cable adjustment
Ok, so I have watched every video and read every article about this adjustment.
When I check mine, I push down the button, make sure the slide thing is pushed back in, ( it already is). When I do this, I still have ZERO slack in the cable. I then push the throttle to wide open, using my hand at the throttle body, and the plunger does not move at all.
If I pull the plunger out by hand just a bit, I start to get slack in the cable, equal to how much I pull the plunger out.
The only time the cable is with out slack is when I push the plunger all the way in by hand.
I have asked about this before, and experimented with different positions if the plunger, but I am really starting to get this ol Jeep dialed in, and havent really got a definitive answer about this.
What gives???

If you're sure everything is OK at the other end of the cable (on the trans), then it means your cable is a bit stretched out. As long as there's no slack (lash), I think it will be OK. The reason you go through those steps is to make sure there's no slack and essentially no tension on the cable.

I left the plunger pushed all the way in, because it does not move per the TV cable adjustment. Took it out for a couple half dozen full throttle from dead stop runs up to 65 mph. Shifted every time between 4000 and 4500 rpm. Shifts firm. (It is in permanent power mode) Seems reasonable. Around town it just shifts like a normal vehicle would, un noticeable.
So I guess it is good.
