that's kind of what I figured! My idle is still a little off. In cooler weather when I first start it up, the idle is O.K. but after I take off it dies on me. It's only after the jeep warms up that the idle straightens out, it's not to bad, but kind of annoying. Is there anything else I may need to check under the dash board electrically that may need rehooked back. I noticed you have to disconnect the negative battery post before hooking anything up electrically, that's what i had to do with the TCU, before it woulds work right.

Can the negative post on the battery cause the idle to rev up. I noticed as I was coming home from work this morning, my idle died on me. Then I restarted the jeep, and the idel went real high. I drove home and I could hardly keep my brakes from keeping the jeep from moving. Then when I parked I shut the engine off, and tried to restart, but it was dead. I then suspected my battery cables were lose, I guess they were cause after I hand adjusted the cable and posts the jeep started back up. I didn't check the idle again, but I will later. To tired right now.

My jeep just started having a idle issue too. I have a 96 cherokee I took the front doors off on friday at work and drove it home it ran fine but it was realy low on gas anyways i parked it for the weekend and monday i went to start it to go to work and it would not idle at all it would just die i started it a few times but it would just die i figure it was out gas so i drove my truck to work, i put 5 gal of gas in it when i got home and its doing the samething except the idle has increased a little not much it still on the point of dieing does anybody have suggestions. Also not sure if it matters but i just lifted front 5in on 33s hopefully going to do the rear this weekend so the last few times i drove it its not exactly level ha its pretty funny looking dont that would matter but not sure.

If it does that you need a new IAC (idle stepper motor)...

O.K. then, back to my original question. Can a poor connection on the battery posts, dirty, corroded or loose cause idle problems. I am assuming it can since most stuff on fuel injection is electrical in nature.

Well if you disconnect the batt cable on a cherokee the engine dies (don't try this), could be a false contact due to the corroded or loose connectors. Just clean/tight them to find out.

Actually my idle is really well, except at start up and I have to wait at least 2 minutes for the engine to warm up, before the idle cuts out and dies. When I replaced my ignition switch there was another box under the steering column under the lower dash board that was velcrowed to the dash. I also unhooked that, but I hooked it back up. But the Chilton book says to disconnect the negative battery post before doing any work on the jeep. So, I wondering if I need to disconnect my negative battery post, then rehook the box back up. Or maybe it doesn't have anything to do with it at all. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Just a pain hooking and unhooking electrical boxes to see if it makes the vehicle run any better.

If it's a yellow box it's the Cruise control module.
Nothing important.

My idle still isn't right on my jeep. Some days it does good, some days not so good. Right when I first start it up, when I give it gas on the pedal, it tries to cut out on me. After a minute or so it does O.K. Then on warm days my idle speed ups, curb idle. On colder days the idle goes low, almost to low, but just barely enough not to cut out. Got any suggestions. Thanks!

Check your fuel pressure.
