'88 4.0 Manual stalling
I can't quite figure out how to word this question, so I'm hoping the amazing folks on Cherokee Forum can help me out! My problem occured first today on my '88 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 4x4 Peugot 5 speed. Say I'm in first gear and so on trudging in a parking lot, etc, hit the clutch to move out of gear for a neutral coast, the engine automatically putts out but starts up easily while still rolling. Almost like the total opposite of a normal standard trans stall. I'm thinking either ignition coil/distributor? Alternator puts out a steady 14 volt and the vehicle has 163k original. Any help is much appreciated!

This sounds like a bad idle-air-control (IAC) or the passage for it in the throttle body is plugged up . I'd start by cleaning the throttle body and the tip of the idle-air-controller (IAC). I would also test the throttle position sensor.
