Default 88 cherokee starting problem

jeep can sit for days and you can start right up. Go to the store and come back out and it will not start unless you push gas pedal to the floor. Drive home let sit until cold will start with no problem. Drives up and down the road with no problems. I put a new fuel filter on it. I also changed the air charge temp sensor with one out of a used jeep because I couldn't get at parts store.
still the same results.

inline six cyl. 4.0 automatic.

please help thanks

Hi and welcome to CF from Tj...Sounds like the fuel is boiling and causing a vapor lock. Not too sure on this one but I'm sure many will post later on tonight with answers...Tj

I had the same issue, hard start when hot, turned out it was a leaky injector. replaced them and all is well.

Having to tip in the throttle to start is a symptom of a bad "throttle position sensor".

If you do replace it, know that the new one MUST be adjusted to work properly!
