LITTLE BALL, LONG GREEN, TEE YOUR WHITE BALL.

Light Blue, Light Green, , Tan, Yellow, White, then Black are the injector wire color codes .
If you know the pair in the middle is right, you only need to check one on each end.

My '89 has always had issues running smooth. One day I have to replace all 6 injectors, the next my exhaust manifold cracks, followed by the injector wires needing to be replaced. Everything adds up to the damn thing not running tip top. These cars are for people who LOVE jeeps and LOVE working on them every weekend, because that is what you will be doing.

When I first got mine I fixed/replaced a fair amount of stuff. Other than a headlight a few weeks ago I can't remember the last time I had to work on it. They're reliable vehicles, but anything old will need some TLC here & there.

I'm kind of torn on this one. The curse is that they are at least fixable problems. You're right about needing to have time to work on them though. It's kind of like owning an older house-always something that needs fixing or attention. Parts are relatively cheap so it's almost a hobby. Mine isn't a daily driver anymore so it's a lot nicer not having the pressure of the wife needing it for work in the morning. I remember pulling the fuel rail at 11:00 at night in the winter to try and fix leaky fuel injectors so she could drive to work in the morning. Not fun working under the gun. After replacing those stock injectors, I haven't had to pull the rail since.

I often wonder what the XJs were like new (first 5 years) as far as reliability. I would think they must have been great.
