88 laredo cutting out/not starting after being warmed up
#17
Ok, so update. I have finished the list from cruiser's comment, and soldered the connections. Still, the same thing is happening. it feels like its choking out, like it's not getting enough oxygen or maybe the idle is too low. When I'm driving its fine, but when I take my foot off the gas and start to apply the brake, soon and the brake is pressed, the rpms just drop.
My friend suggets looking into getting a new solenoid sine it looks to be the original, or very old one, still in there.

Have you ever cleaned your throttle and IAC? I think the IAC is maybe what your friend is referring to.
Check to be sure your intake manifold bolts aren't loosening up.
How is the integrity of all your vacuum lines on the engine?

I tried to replace my IAC before, but when I placed in the new one, the rpms just shot up to 5500 and wouldnt come down. So I just re installed the old one since it looked to be fine. Ill take it off again when I get home and post a pic, maybe im missing something.
The vacuum lines are pretty decent. When I pulled them off it ran a littler richer, but when I plugged them with my finger the motor really choked out.

Have you tried having a friend start it for you while you stand by the tb? I found out I had bad vacuum leaks by simply removing the airbox from the tb, and using my thumb to close off the iac port, but it still idled at spec. Case and point, I'd try this to eliminate the iac as a possible cause or to narrow it to the culprit.

I pulled the IAC off and the RPMs took off again. I'm thinking it might be the electrical connection, because my temp isn't reading any more. But I'm going to clean my throttle body tomorrow, see what happens
