SO... My tail lights and dash lights went out. I searched for a solution and found one. There is a plug in the rear hatch that is for an extra light. I plugged it in and shorted a bunch of stuff out. Unplugged it, everything works again. BUT, now they wont turn back off. Its not the headlight switch, I replaced that. And even when I just straight unplug it, the dash lights and tail lights remain on. I can pull fuse 7 (I believe) and it shuts them off, but It would be incredibly nice to have them work on my headlight switch. Any ideas?

Boys? In any case, if you shorted something here is one thing that can happen. The "hot" wire becomes like a "hot knife through butter". It can cut right through the insulation of the other wires. Down in there, under all the outer covers it can burn through to the next metal it hits.
Is there a fuse, "dome"? anyway I might try pulling other fuses. If pulling one makes them tun off that might be a clue as to where your other circuit is getting power.
Once an un-fused aux battery shorted and cut through to my windshield wipers on my Celica! My lady asked me, ( What's all that smoke from around your hood, and why are your wipers going?)
So...there's that..

I will look inside there a bit more. I really didn't wanna dig through all the tapes up wires, but I may have to. I'll see of I can find any that the wire cut into. Thank you for the tip
