I just bought an 88 Cherokee,with a 4.0. it runs great for about 15 min, then dies. no spark off the coil, no fuel pressure in fuel rail. replaced control module under drivers side dash. Mechanic hooked up diagnostic equipment, and said it was flashing back and forth, not communicating properly. now he says he thinks the alt is leaking A/C voltage. Im tierd of throwing cash at this thing. Any help would be appreciated!

realist diagnosis for your issue would be, take it too an ase certified jeep tech, not a garage tech. sounds like its an issue that can be solved quickly but you need a real tech. just a suggestion.

being a chevy ase cert tech i know we know our product, not all prosducts, so it really takes a jeep ase tech to find a jeep issue like this. you never know, he may have ran into this issue 50 times and know the sollution right away and save you hundreds of bucks on the repair for 15 bucks more an hour, to me its worth it..

Anothony is right. Im an ASE Certified Toyota tech. There is stuff Ive seen come in number of times and no one was able to figure it out but me cause Ive seen it many of times. But remember if you take it to a jeep specialist they may charge alittle bit more but they will fix it right the first time and not keep pulling your chain.

Thanks guy's! got it fixed. it was the crankshaft position sensor. $25.00 part. too bad I already replaced the ecm...oh well, it's fixed!
