do you know what wires are what on the o2 to test? i tested the cts down next to the knock sensor, the one on the head is for the gauge correct? how can i get the tps and map to get the same voltage if you say they need to be?

hey i got an 88xj with a 4.0 auto, and ive been having nothing but problems with once i get one thing fixed its another, now when im driving it will bog down some and then come back and run fine, and it does it every now and then seems to be at lower rpms, and speed, but when your on the gas hard at higher speed it doesnt do it, also when you put it in drive or reverse and hit the gas it will stall sometime, and when parked it idles way down and stalls some times also and comes back when it doesnt stall, im running out of ideas and throwing parts at it, ive replaced the tps, iac, cps, cam sensor, fuel pump filter pr, cap roter plugs wires, all the grounds seem good too, also put new exhaust on and noticed inside the pipe was verry black and almost sooty, and checked the plugs and they were too, seems to me its getting to much fuel? any help would be grat thanks
The EGR valve needs to be changed atleast every 2 years and is a major part of a tune up and has a lot to due with the fuel system. Also your gas gauge might be faulty.

There is a pin in the middle, with a flat screw driver push the pin outward if it sticks, then that is your problem. Either way it should be changed every 2 years.

ok i tested the egr and it looks good, i changed the O2 and the cts, and found a small vac. leak on the line to the fuel pressure regulator. its running alot better now, idles good and not bogging down or back firing anymore, it still smells to be running alittle rich, and not as powerful as it should be, but im happy with this progress but ill see what tomorrow brings.

after i changed the o2 sensor and the coolant temp sensor, it ran good for about a week and then started to cut out here and there when it was first started up and its continued to get worse overtime, now it will cut out repeatedly and backfire here and there till the temp gets up to 210 then it runs good, im not sure if the o2 or cts went bad again or if its something else?

I had a simular problem and it was just my o2 sensor, once its going bad the system will bog down and then the computer relises this and put u in recovery mode and bypasses the o2 sensor, check the whole o2 sensor wires and make sure its not grounding itself out somwhere along the line hope this helps
