89 242 in a 93?
Will a NP242 from an 89 direct swap into a 93 that had a 242? I've heard the 231s changed in 90 (with the change from renix to HO) to a diffrent spline count and was wondering if it was the same with the 242's or if they would still swap out...

if swapping out a TC, does spline count matter? cause when new one goes in, all the components (output shafts) are already in, and the DS is connected by u joints... idk, this aint fact! im more wondering myself...?
...in looking more the the 242 was available from 87 on, so it sould be good...

The input spline count is critical as it must match up to the output shaft of the trans. Found the specs I need and it will not work... As a general rule all renix equipped XJ's had a 21 spline trans and the HO models had 23... Oh well, Guess I can't use the older 231 or 242 I have on hand and am going to have to purchase one...
Found this article and attached pdf useful so figured I'd share it http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...ID_Project.htm
