'89 stock Cherokee, what size tires are max?
Since the forum is so mega large I searched and searched but did not find a subforum to post into, if mods want to move it be my guest obv.. And then a big 'am sorry..' will follow.
I have an 1989 Cherokee all stock so far. What size tires can I fit max while stock? Since I am from the Netherlands is it possible to post metric system tire size.. I have 225/70/15 right now.
And does anyone know a way to convert sizes in inches to metric and vice versa?
As I do have plans to lift, front 1.2" and in the back add a leaf from an old set.
What size tires are max / fun to drive? for the near future most miles are on (dirt) roads so no real offroad stuff.
Thx in advance.

235/75/15 are the biggest that you can fit on stock without rubbing or having to trim the fenders.......enjoy!
As far as conversions go, I don't know the formula, but here's a handy converter

If your lift gives you 1.2" like you said, I would say probably not without some fender trimming.....I think 235s are about 28.5 inches, so the 31s are almost 3 inches bigger

the 2.5 / 3 inches are total where the lift only affects the top half of the tire , right?
Is it not better to divide the 2.5 / 3 inches in two since it effects both sides of the axle / wheel. Therefore a 1.25 / 1,5 inch bothways, compared to the approx. 1.2"lift... is only differs 0.15 / 0.3"..??
Not sure though, my 2 cents..
All and all it will require some trimming I guess. Better skip these 31s for now then. Thanks!

My friend has the same Silver XJ as above. He took his fender flares off and he runs 30s. looks pretty cool but its close to the fender. You could to some light trimmiing and prolly run 31s. You can do a whole lot of hacking and well, the sky is the limit.
If you dont really want to chop your jeep up, then run a small lift.

I agree that my tires could be a bit bigger, but you should see how much flex I get with the smaller ones because they aren't getting buried into the fenders.
