I picked up 2 gallons of T fluid this morning on the way to work. When I get home tonight I'll pull the plug and drain the tranny then fill and run that for a week. Then do it again for another week then drop the second batch and do a filter a full fluid change. It does seem to be shifting better with the new TCU but when it gets warm it doesn't want to kick down when I step on it. It does down shift when I pull up to a stop and takes off fine just doesn't down shift when cruising.

I was wondering that as well. I got a BWD brand one from O'reilly's. I did check it last night when I got home and when I sweep it the out put voltage goes down in nice smooth increments there's no jumping or dead spots and it was right after my 25 mile drive home so things where warm. Kick down cable has return pull so it's hooked up good. Question for you Cruiser is the TCU case grounded? It bolts to the metal strip on the back of the trim panel and I was just curious if that grounds out any place. I still have the junkyard unit just tucked up in the dash under the glove box right now.

Only at the engine dipstick tube stud, along with the shift point logic circuit and the transmission solenoids.

That circuit for the solenoids runs through the C104 connecotr next to the RH shock tower. Rectangular 10 pin connector.

Ok kinda what I thought just wanted to make sure. That plug is clean and the grounds are like new. On to the flush process after work then.

Ok we have good progress here. I got home and while the tranny was good and hot I pulled the drain plug out and let her buck. Wow was it bad. Like golden brown almost oil colored bad and smelled burnt. So I let it sit for a couple of beers and then plugged it back up. I put in about a half gallon and started it up. I then added about two more quarts and called it good. So next up was to head for a test drive and hey it takes off good and down shifts when you hit the gas. So far this is a vast improvement. I'll drive it for the week and then drop another four quarts and put in another 4 of good again. Then after that I'll drop the filter. As for now it looks like I'm on the road to recovery.

Well don't trust a new TPS! After flushing Trans fluid I was still having issues. I checked my TPS settings last night only to find that my new TPS was faulty. I was getting intermittent input voltage readings on the output side. Basically the TPS was doing nothing and doing it all on it's own. Stopped and got a new one under warranty this morning on the way to work and installed it and so far things seem to now be working correctly. I'll no more after the drive home tonight.

First one was a BWD from O'Reilly's. It was under warranty so I got another from them. If this one fails I'll get another brand and get my money back on the BWD one. At least now I know what to look for. Plus I still have my original TCU which is still good. I'm running the one from the 88' that I got from the JY.
