I havent got all my parts in yet. I got my injectors installed the new fuel filter, the tank is ready waiting on a fuel pump. I ordered the whole assembly from auto zone but the sock did not go in the right direction to fit in the little pan in the tank so he ordered another one same problem. So now i am waiting on a pump to install in my old assembly. When i get the pump in, new tank in i will have a clean fuel system. I will keep you posted on how it goes when i get it all back together. Thanks for the support.

Hey GB!!! WOW what a tale! that there is one for the books kind sir!

Am glad you found your gremlin....I hate when the silt gets into the feul delivery system, don't you?

I think with all the GREAT advice you've gotten here, you will have a fine running beast very soon!

703 injectors, oh yeah! do it!

now about your parts store selection sir.........

I have had nothing but very bad luck with the autozone people, only on the somewhat extra-ordinary parts....
let me give you example......
fuel pump......I had same problem as you are now seeing.... I went to ROCKAUTO.com and bought one of theirs, NO PROBLEM at all.

REAR Tranny seal....mine was leaking bad!,, bought one at autozone......not even close to sealing the trannyfluid......went to dealer for $12.00 got the RIGHT one.

my story here is short.....I say shop your dealer, and other on line venues before committing to autozone all the time.
just my opinion sir,,,,,

I wish you the best of luck with the new fuel system!!

cheers!

It has probably been about 10 years or longer since i bought this auto zone pump, it had a lifetime warranty so i havent had to pay for another one. I think the current one they are selling is airteck i dont know much about it but its free under my warranty if i bought it it would be 70.00( they dont offer this warranty anymore). Also when i replaced the fuel filter i noticed that it rattled when i took it out like the element was moving back and forth i dont think that is supposed to be happening on a sealed unit.

If you guys have any recommendations for a better pump im all ears or eyes or whatever.

Thanks for the input.

Find a Bosch pump, the Airtex units have a very poor track record. Warranty coverage to get a lifetime's supply of Airtexes is great but won't make up for a failed unit leaving you stranded (do a search on here for Airtex)

I can't say I've regretted going with Napa on about anything. The one in there now I think I put in in 05...no problems.

Welcome back CPNWRENCH! The place wasn't the same without you.

Finally got every thing together new tank on new fuel pump fresh ethanol free gas. It fired right up once the fuel system was primed took a few cranks for that to happen i was beginning to wonder if i had a bad new pump because i couldn't hear it running. It eventually primed the system put the pressure gauge on, it was showing the 31 psi running so thats normal. Everything checks out good . The engine runs good it has plenty of pep now. I have a very small quiver at idle but i may have to live with it the engine has 170,000 miles on it so it cant be perfect. It could be i need to clean the black **** off the oxygen sensor, the exhaust smells right now so i know its back to normal. So i think through all this my problem was contaminated gas that ruined a couple of my fuel injectors. The whole time i was doing all the other stuff i just had a gut feeling it was fuel related because of the way it happened. Thanks everyone for all your input its been a big help. I think I'm good now.

And the crowd cheers! Well done GW.

I didn't catch it, which injectors did you go with?

Also a note...when my 02 sensor was shot the idle would slowly cycle every 20 or 30 seconds. Another thing, its easy=peasy to pull and clean your intake air temp sensor. (while I was doing mine, I found that right where the wire came out of it, the flexing had broken the copper wire in there.) I believe that signal is important for the mixture...

Hey GW! Wonderful job sir! purrin like a kitten eh?

just a small check for ya, you say you have a bit of a "quiver" at idle.

might check the motor mounts,, they do go bad after a while. that might tighten that "quiver" up a bit.

just a 2 cent advice there sir!

Hey Rubble!!!!! great to be back!!!!!!!

wish they'd bring back my :smokin: smiley!!!

sigh............
