Default 90 Degree Oil Filter Adapter 4.0L

Yes, 5302 0080 ADAPTER, Oil Filter
In my local Pull-A-Part I noticed some of the Grand Cherokees with 4.0L engines had a 90 degree oil adapters, even though they don't seem to be needed in that model. Others have the filter screwed straight into the block. The majority 4.0L have the adapter.
Looking through some of the parts manuals at the Archive https://archive.org/search?query=jee...e+parts+manual I don't see the adapter or part number anywhere.
Did they actually come from the factory that way? Thought of maybe engine swaps, but that seems like a lot.

I've never seen an XJ 4.0 HO that didn't have one.
There's plenty of threads on every Jeep site about leaky adapter O rings.

So sometimes when you Google a part number, don't forget to take the space out of it, you can find a site that has a "What It Fits" section.
Looks like it also can be found on:

Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L Power Tech I6 A/T Base 1997, 1998
Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 A/T Base 1997, 1998
Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9L V8 A/T Base 1998

At least according to this site:
