90xj acting like trans power switch is on

Default 90xj acting like trans power switch is on

I replaced my brake light sensor last night on the brake pedal now my radio does not work the fuse is good. Driving at 40mph would run in 4th gear at 1300rpm now its at 1600rpm. at 65mph would be around 2600rpm now its at 3000rpm. besides a 2in lift and winch its stock with 356,000mi

Hmm, torque converter not locking up?
Rule with issues occuring after work has been done: check the work done. Make sure you didnt disconnect any wires/connections in the area and hooked everything back up the correct way. Check fuses.

that's what it seems like to me too... why'd you replace the brake switch OP?

2600 rpm at 65 is pretty high, also... i run at like 2k at 65. 2.5k at 75.

Which switch did you replace? The white plastic one of the one below it?

i replaced the switch below the white one. brake lights would come on at first touch but when I applied more pressure stop lights would go off. so at a stop light I had no brake lights. one of the wires broke off so I had to put new connectors on it. I checked all fuses and none of the are blown. I hauled *** in a field to see if I could shake something back into place which did not work. Could be torque converter it has 351,000 mi on it. ill make a video today.

The upper switch, white one, controls torque converter lock up................

After doing some reading sounds like the torque converter. ill have to look and see if that switch got stuck or I put the pedal back together wrong. Still don't know why the radio stopped working.

That upper switch could just be out of adjustment..............

With the brake pedal at rest, push the white switch forward. It will click into the proper place.

That did not work. Any other ideas anyone?? at $20 a day in gas I will have to take it to a shop soon

Maybe the switch is bad. Unplug one side and see what happens. Be aware if that's it, the Jeep will likely stall at a stop.

Did you ever do #10 in my tips?

I did not do number 10 because there were no problems before I messed with the brake pedal. With my history of vary bad luck I try not to touch anything that is not broken. I will take a look at it in a few mins

I would bet on torque converter..I battled this issue for a few months. I eventually traced the wires from the white little switch to the tcu. For a connector that was unplugged and found its match. Works like a charm now.
The connector is about a foot, foot and a half away front the white switch
