did you guys get water in the fuel? and did you put the distributor in the motor, if so did you get it a couple teeth off?

I had a 90 cherokee that i hydrolocked bad 3 times, it ran just like you describing poping under acceleration and all that. turned out to be two melted injector tips might take a look at them.

Distributor was in the motor, had mechanic check it and tried going forwards a bit and back, worse both directions. I will check the injectors, just pop off and look at them? Water in the fuel though...not sure how that could have managed but anything is possible for sure.

thanks for the continued ideas, really helps a lot.

I would check the plugs. Is it smoking really bad? If so, oil could be getting in the cyl enough to cause a misfire. If they look grungy, or oil fouled, that could be part of the problem. Did you go any deeper than your pic showed?

yeah just pop the fuel rail off and the injectors, make sure to use some lube to push them all back in or its a real pain. The tips will be literary melted if they were anything like mine.

and what flexplate did you use? the old one or the one that came with the motor?

Good thought on the flexplate, Cherokee90. Would one run at all with the wrong one? I honestly don't know 'cause I have a stick.

Won't run at all with the wrong flexplate or flywheel.

Alright, thanks. I will check them out, I didn't remove them just swapped over the intake and all so not sure on the condition.

I used the flexplate that came with the motor, that ok?

The flex plate was just an idea,I was thinking if its vent it could cause a miss ect. But I guess that would be constant, scratch that idea.
