91 XJ heat and power issue

No, I don't lick fish.
Get a friend to help you, put on a pair of safety glasses and a shield (you can get both from harbor freight for a dollar a piece), and have him move the steering wheel back and forth while you look at where the steering lines and fittings.... 'cause clearly it's spraying from somewhere that your towel isn't touching.

Yep. That's the plan today. I'm digging out my worst clothes, my weed eater googles, maybe a hat and see exactly where this is coming from. Lol. I'll look like an 80's pop video.

Funny thing I had a crack in radiator as well. Explains the massive coolant and power steering fluids. Crack was minor but yeah it was like a huge mix of bad stuff all at once

HAHA! Yeah, that'll do it!
See there? Good thing you did some noggin' pokin'. Glad you got it figured out though. Now comes the real fun - takin' stuff apart and replacing it with good parts, then smilin' at it when it's all running like clockwork again.

Yeah I had it out on interstate she's got great power again up to 75 no issue. Little like clunk push now and again from the rear seems when letting off gas mainly. It had been sitting best part of last 2 years so might just be that. Another grease job in order. Otherwise idk that might be universals. Shocks. Ehhh I know shocks are questionable at best but it's in the longer future list. I'll top up any fluids tomorrow and grease and run her again and see. The clunk best summed up like a kick in the *** but not a hard kick.

Check your upper shock bolts. The "clunk" is usually either caused by loose bolts at the upper shock mount, or worn bushings that are now allowing the shock eye to slop around on the bar pin.

I only noticed a tiny bit clunk on into reverse into my drive so that could be. Another grease and I want to check diff oil levels as idk the state of those. Suppose should check the transfer case level as well. Tranny is clean and I topped it up with this new coolant line addition. Took maybe 1/4 the quart to top up and line was dry.

Now would definitely be a good time to check over everything. Change out the fluids, check all the torques on the bolts for your suspension and wheels, and of course look over all the rubber. Grease the joints, as you mentioned, yadda yadda yadda.

Yeah I had to throw new tires on. Just the stock as the ones on it were so old they predated the dot codes on front. Lol yeah. Sad. Anyway I want to get better tires and that size I can use on my road vehicle any way when I can afford upgrades. They did a complimentary alignment at the tire shop and mentioned the steering damper was weak but it's tracking front so I'll worry about that with a lift upgrade when money permits. Even if it is the shocks I'll probably take steps to make them go if I can till the lift etc etc etc roadworthy has been my main top priority at this point. It did sit. A lot. 75k on the motor at 26 years of use. Uhhhhh.

Update: Looks like motor and tranny mounts are cracked up and tired. Sounds like that can cause the uphill clunk and random on road clunk as things slide around where they should not.. sounds like a project for next week! I'll just go easy on it and give a good greasing and should not fall apart till I get stuff next week. All things rubber just die in the damn desert. I'll bet the mounts will disintegrate coming off.
