Default 92’ won’t start after tuneup. Help!

I’m going to list everything I’ve done in order that led up to the not starting problem.

1. Installed upgraded H4 headlight harness and rampage headlight conversion kit.

2. New distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires.

3. New negative ground lead from cylinder head to firewall.

4. New battery.

Jeep has always been a rough starter but this got markedly worse after the H4 wiring harness and headlights. Distributer cap/rotor/plugs/wires seemed to exacerbate the problem.

About a week ago I noticed voltage fluctuations and then got stuck at the store. Battery was completely dead. Installed new battery and voltage fluctuation didn’t improve at all.

Now….I get good power for interior components and good turnover but won’t start. Sounds like a lot sputtering. Help!!!

If done correctly the headlight upgrade should have no effect on anything...did you possibly crisscross one of the spark plug wires or coil to cap wire. Did your #1 wire start on the correct tower on the dist...I have had non-distributor model for long enough now that I don't remember the exact orientation of the older styles

after cranking for a few revolutions, pull one of the plugs out and inspect, is it soaked with fuel? If so you need a new temp sender computer needs to know what the temp the block is at before starting, if that sender goes bad it thinks it's cold and will dump fuel, you can test by unplugging temp harness, on the thermostat housing and grounding the sender wire. this will tell the computer that the block is hot and will send less fuel into the cylinders. if this is works get a new sender but only Delphi, or Dorman. I went through 3 of the Duralast senders in 6 months.
