Default 92 xj won't start

So recently I swapped out the 92 HO for an older 90s renix block. (All I could find) all went well swapped in a HO head, intake, distributor, exhaust manifold, and basically everything but the block is from the HO motor. I've replaced the cps, the distributor, wires, cap and rotor, has new plugs, and a new starter. All was going well, until we went to test spark again and the motor wouldn't crank at the key. I can get it to crank at the starter. Just recently replace the ignition starter switch, and it's still not getting anything from the key. Fuel pump primes, but one click further and nothing. The fuel is good, it had good air, somewhat of a weak spark (which I can diagnose later) just can't figure out why it won't crank at the key. I've searched through multiple threads and can't seem to find anything to help me... Any ideas are much appreciated!

Is the new engine grounded to the chassis?
Have you tried swapping out the Auto shutdown relay?

It is grounded, but I have yet to swap it to 4 gauge. And I just replaced that and the starter relay as of yesterday.. I'm lost because it would crank just fine before (wouldn't roll over however) but then it wouldnt crank at all at the key when I went to test the spark again

lol well that won't work then, still trying to find some help for you though. What about the the clutch safety switch is not working? you can install a 20amp fuse in the lower left socket of your fuse panel, bypassing the clutch interlock on some years not sure

I am assuming you have already tested the new ignition switch and checked all of the connections between the bat and ignition switch since you are a veteran here and are capable of swapping engines.

And I appreciate it! Here's the only thing that I've found to look odd.. The connector that goes into the ignition switch. Posted on the jeepn Alaska page and found someone willing to spare the wires so I might be soldering in a new one and hoping it works

I hope that fixes it too! Now for the million dollar question... is it cold outside there? lol
from what I know about wiring heat is caused by resistance. So that connector or the switch had a crap load of resistance at the burn point...
That is definitely burnt, i bet the wire is brittle. If you had a crimp connector you could cut out the bad part of the wire and resolder if the wire isnt brittle all the way down or another option is to dremel the plastic ,solder it straight to get you by till you can get the other connector.
Living in Hawaii where everything takes weeks to get, I've actually carefully decrimped ,cut bad wire out and recrimped and soldered things like this, the flat plug will come out of some of those with the help of an awl or icepick.

I live in Alaska so I know your pain! And yes it is cold outside, but it's in a heated garage that stays about 60-70. I'm getting the plug tomorrow from a guy whos scrapping a Manche so hopefully that fixes it.. There's no reason it should take 2 months to swap a motor out... -_- anymore money and I might cut my loses, strip it down and start from scratch haha.. Well not technically since I'll have all my lights and long arm kit

That's what I found when I looked at the wiring diagrams.. Hopefully it's not burnt up pretty bad as I'll have to solder in a new plug and hope it fixes it. I know the motor will start, just need it to crank so I can properly adjust timing and everything

Lol if they can get it running they are welcome to try haha! But most people don't know how to drive stick so I've got a leg up there.. Plus I've still gotta blead the new clutch but I hear that for sure, helps em learn the odds and ends of what to do or what's been done. A smart one could track the IP address and find ya better.. :O
