94 cherokee ignition problems. HELP
Hey guys! i have a 1994 jeep cherokee 4.0 5-speed. it has some ignition problems and cant find it for the life of me. i replaced the starter, and the ignition switch at the base of the steering column. the key will still not turn it over. i have lights radio air but it wont go to the next step. i can push it down the road and dump the clutch and it starts right up but still no key... im lost on what else it could be.. I NEED HELP.

The ignition cylinder (key) actually moves a metal rod that runs down the column to the ignition switch (the one you replaced) and I know there is a way to test that to make sure it's extending far enough to engage the starter, I'm just not sure how... I've never done it. Someone will offer up advice soon. I seem to recall a thread on a similar problem, I'll see if I can find it...

Do you have a wiring diagram and a DMM? real easy to check for continuity at the connector on the column. If it is the ignition switch it may just be faster and easier to swap in a whole column.

I'm pretty sure your '94 uses the same column/switch.
