Default 94 front brake lines

went to do some brake work today. New rear shoes and wheel cylinders, check. New brake hoses...ehhhhhh....not so much. The hoses are ballooning when the brake pedal is pressed down. Not good. rear hose is fine. Went to replace the drivers side hose and rounded off the fitting from the steel line. I sprayed everything down liberally with WD-40 and let it sit for a good long while. So my question now becomes is there enough line that if I were to get some new fittings and a flare tool could I just cut the tubing off just above the fitting and re-flair the tubing? If so what size fitting would I need to get?
All the local shops want way to much to replace the steel line and hoses. Do you think that this would work or am I just crazy?

If the brake hoses are balooning you need to replace them. New one cost less than $20 each. Fixing rubber brake lines is not safe. Would really suck if the brake line decides to rupture when you are trying to stop.

Sorry I wasn't clear. (I've been working on the jeep since 7:00 this morning. What I meant was do the STEEL lines have enough "slack" in them that I could cut the line off above the fitting that screws into the rubber hose and just replace the fitting and re-flare the steel lines. I've got new rubber hoses for the driver and passenger side.

How old are the lines? If they are original then just replace the lines. They are very cheap to do yourself.Especially the front cuz they're so short.

yes you should be able to pull some slack from the engine bay. Make sure you get a good flare.
