94 xj trans vs 95 zj trans
So I am still working with my 94 XJ(my jaded lover) but she is mostly toasted. However I had transmission problems when I first got her and it took me forever to fix. I also have a 95 ZJ(laredo) and that is having the same exact issues. I fixed my xj by swapping the tps sensor....after that it shifted like heaven. So I pulled that sensor and swapped it into the ZJ. No change. But I sware the symptoms are the same like it is my XJ reborn with the same drama. FML. Can a tps sensor interior be dirty and malfunctioning? No wait I mean can the throttle body be screwed up enough that it screws up the tps sensor? If that makes sense. Otherwise i was gonna do the zj solenoids and a trans flush...but it is so similar to the xj shifting issue it is pulling me in other directions. it just feels like the tps sensor. The last thing I can say about the zj is the wires to the tps sensor were cut and spliced to the connector. So I have not probed that yet. but it seems worth checking. It was just mind blowing how the tps fixed my xj and I was fighting it for months....Any input is appreciated!
Also symptoms are just holding onto first gear too long rpms way high drop the gas and she may shift to 2nd....and yes I re adjusted the tvc cable...to no avail.

The ZJ and XJ use different transmissions, the 42RH/RE that's in the ZJ has more common problems than the AW4 that's in the XJ. The 42RH has bands that need adjusted periodicly, a blown out servo pistons, bad govenor pressure solenoid, low line pressure, and slipping clutches are all common problems with the 42.
