Hi all, I'm new here. I joined because I'm trying to help my neighbor get her Cherokee running again. It's been sitting for a while, but it does have 8 gallons of fresh gas in it.

I sprayed some starting fluid in there while cranking, and there was no sign of spark at all. Not even a puff.. So now I'm wondering what's the first thing to test?

I'm not familiar with Jeeps, and it's a spaghetti mess back there by the distributor, so, if anyone has some suggestions about what to check first, I'll appreciate it!

I have a multi-meter, but I don't know what to check and I don't know the specs.

Any tips/advice, especially about known issues, will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance,

Hmmm, I just found a schematic, and I see that there's an "Auto Shutdown Relay"... I'll have to locate that one tomorrow.

On my F-150, there are a lot of relays that are interchangeable. Sure would be nice if that's all it is, so I guess I'll check that next. But I'm still all ears if anyone has other suggestions.

Have you posted in the Grand Cherokee section? XJs have the 4.0 or 2.5, so maybe someone in the ZJ section could have better input and experience.
