95 xj intermittently stalls out help plz
Hi y'all new here and really need some opinions on what would cause this intermittent problem. So my Jeep is a 4 door 95 xj country ,4.0ho aw4 auto 206k miles and last night for the first time randomly died on me while accelerating after a turn so I coasted to the shoulder put it in park and it turned over 3-4 seconds and fired up normal so I revved it to see if maybe if the fuel pump was dieing but when it does this it starts back up right away and is very instant when it stalls like if I were to shut the key off everything stays on blower fan gauges wipers and didn't do it again untill tonight I was at a red light and it died hit neutral started right away as soon as I hit d and started to go died again rolled on shoulder shut ignition off waited a few minutes and started it and been okay all the way home (1 hr.) My ign coil is 2 months old new plugs wires cap rotor battery new also new IAT sensor new TPS sensor new ECT sensor new o2 sensor as in new I mean less than 6 months old and less than 10k miles the way it dies I am absolutely certain it's not fuel related no bogging etc. I am thinking that it is crank pos. Sensor that is original and has no codes present can a ckps fail intermittently? Could the autoshutdown relay be getting triggered somehow or relay itself failing? Plz help 🥺

Could be CPS but sounds to me more like a vacuum issue. Make sure you don’t have any leaks. My 92 XJ had similar stalling issues and eventually traced it to a cracked vacuum line.

The vacuum thing is a good idea. I'd also go through all the wiring and grounds and ensure that stuff is in order.
I'mno CPS expert, but they usually fail from heat... so it's a stall, no start wait to cool down, starts up, repeat.. Stall then immediate restart sounds like something shorting out or cutting out very briefly then a subtle shift and connection is restored.

Kinda with PatHenry on this one. Kinda sounds like crank shaft positioning sensor is experiencing thermal failure.
If this is the case and your situation is anything like mine then it is just going to get worse.
Fast.
My experiences here:

Also isn't the cam shaft positioning sensor that disc thing inside the distributor in an XJ with a distributor?
I think I might have read that can cause similar problems too.
I think. LOL.

Hello, I have an irritating and lingering problem with my Cherokee Jeep
Model: 1985/86
Colour: Black
Engine V8
When the car is parked for a long time, it becomes problematic restarting it. It starts, rolls, and goes off.
Sometimes a display on the dashboard shows SECURITY! I have changed the brainbox twice, but the problem returns after using the car for a while.
It did not have in-built security that I knew about. Probably it had originally but was removed before I bought it, secondhand.
Please help me to sort out this problem. I cannot afford to buy another car.
Thanks.
Yours truly,
Chinny Anthony Enechukwu
