96 4.0 Cherokee help
Ok, so this is what it going on, when i sit in traffic or any other type thing that leave my jeep running for about 5 mins not moving. When i start to go again it seams to want to stall, almost like its not getting enough air or gas. Also the engine IS NOT over heating, i ruled that one out a few weeks ago.
My first thoughts were maybe the O2 sen, but before i replace anything i wanted to post on there and get some of your ideas first.
Thanks for all your help

Have you checked the basics??
1. Plugs
2. Plug wires
3. Cap
4. Rotor
5. Air Filter
After ALL that, break out your ohm meter and begin testing sensors before throwing money at sensor replacement. You can test 99% of your sensors pretty much in 2 hours and a DVM or analog ohm meter. From THERE replace the one that might be the problem.
Also check for dirty ground cables. Lack of a good ground can make the engine run poorly.

He didn't mention a check engine light, thus I went for the basics.
In case Mcarthur87 doesn't know...You can click the key 3 times and get codes.

it might be an bad o2 thats causing you to run lean. I would check to see if you have any pending codes. Not having a check engine light doesn't mean you wont have a code. Also if you have access to a fuel pressure tester, check your fuel pressure.

You can either goto like autozone or you can run them youself...
On 96's and new I do believe use ODBII codes if so here's how ya do it.."Put the key into the ignition, push down the odometer reset button, then turn the key to RUN with your finger on the button - and then release the button. The odometer will go through 1111111 through 999999, then display the car's serial number. It will then show the error codes (it might show them starting with P)"
If you don't have a digital odometer or 95 or older then you use the ODBI method.. and here's how that works...
"Start with the ignition off. Within five seconds, switch the key on, off, on, off, on. ("On" is NOT "Start" and "Off" is NOT "Lock"). The "check engine" light will flash. Count the flashes. Each code is a two digit code, so a (for example) 23 would be FLASH FLASH (pause) FLASH FLASH FLASH (long pause). It will never flash more than 9 times, so watch for those pauses!" The last code should be 55.
