'96 drivetrain into a '97??

I do not know Utah law but a 96 and 97 are as far as I know the same,there should not be a problem.
here in ca they do not care if the engine is alike,if not you go to what they call a ref and they will inspect it and approve or disapprove it,if it has all the legal smog items and they function they will run a smog on it and if it passes they will put a ca bar sticker on it and from that point on it is legal.
