Default '96 headlight issue

info = 1996 Cherokee sport 4.0L auto.......
When I turn my headlights on the turn signal and high beam indicator comes on, on the dash but no lights anywhere on exterior! This problem seams intermittent sometimes they come on and work fine. Here's my best discription of how they worked today - i started the jeep, turned the headlights on and the indicators lit up with no lights coming on outside. So i tried turn signals with lights on - left one made the left indicator to go a little dim and the right one blinked at a very fast rate while neither affected the high beam indicator or other turn signal. I turned head lights off and the turn signals did nothing. Now I left Jeep running to warm up and left the headlights on and went inside. When I came back out about 5 minutes later headlights were on and everything worked fine. Sometimes they come on like that and sometimes they don't til the next day and they might work from the get go! Any help here already replaced the headlight switch on dash.

Sounds like some sort of short going on in the system. My buddy's MJ had a right blinker indicator that came on when he turned the headlights on. The blinker still worked, though. You may have to trace the wiring to find the source of your problem.
