Yep. That's how I felt on 2 of my jeeps. On my DD, it got Autopals and 90/100 bulbs though.

I installed this harness. Made a world of difference with the stock lights. I just ordered the Autopal housings and bulbs, should make an even bigger difference.

I'm seeing a good amount of people having problems with the Putco harness. Is there another more reliable one?

Why does just changing the harness make the lights brighter? Also can you just change the bulbs or does it have to be the whole housing?

You have to change the whole housing.. You can get them on ebay with a clear crystal housing and bulbs for around 25_30 bucks
Check these out, and they look awesome

Read this:

From the factory, the voltage to the headlight bulbs travels from the battery, inside the cabin, to the headlamp switch, and then back out to the lamps via undersized wire. It's not uncommon to find only 10.5 volts at the lamps.

The supplemental harness is installed so that it provides battery voltage to the lamps and is just triggered by the factory wiring. The result is about 30% brighter headlamps and headlight switches that don't melt and burn out.

Rush Power Systems. I'm not convinced the Putco harness is the problem as much as I am that during installation, they get tugged on. That, along with poor grounding causing premature failure of the relays. I have installed 4 of the Putcos with no issues at all.

I've never had a problem and I've installed 3 of the Putco's (in various brands from same manufacturer) without any issues. The first one I did was 4 years ago and it's still running fine.

So once you install the new housing can you put new bulbs in? I want to add HIDs the easiest way possible.

DO NOT do the projector lens housings. They DO NOT function. Basically the lens creates a black area on the road instead of projecting the light ...

There are only two brands of 6054 conversion lamps worth considering, Autopal and Hella. All the cheap junk available on E-bay is just that.
