Default 96 Heater blower woes,,,

I HAVE searched but really did not find the answer to the question I have.

I have the "normal" blower motor variable switch which of course burnt up. All I really need is the HIGH SPEED position to work.

Can I get a simple high amp switch from the auto parts store and just use the spade connectore from the burnt 3 position switch to accomplish my goal?

I also eliminated the vacum thing that controls the flow of hot water from the engine to the heater core. I use the blending door to control the heat.

ALSO, the big resistor for the 3 position blower switch,,,,can I just splice and insulate those connections AFTER REMOVING the resistor from the circuit? After all, All I really want is for the HIGH SPEED setting on the blower motor.

Which of the 4 wires that are on the 3 position switch in my dash will I need to use to achieve what I am trying to do?

If anyone has a better idea , feel free to speak up. I am trying to simplify a really poorly designed factory setup.

Thanks all

my resistor was burnt up but still worked on the high speed setting. yours does not work at all? the resistor replacement was pretty cheap. I think less than 15 bucks for the part.

It is just that since when I do use the heater it is on high anyway. I am just trying to simplify a really crappy system.

All I want to know is this.

1, Can I delete the big resistor from the circuit and "splice" those wires without incident.

2, Which of the 4 wires on the fan blower control switch are what? There are 4 wires. From the position on the switch I can ASSUME that the bottom wire is the ground and so on. IF this is the case, then ALL of the wires coming into the switch are the same voltage as the resistor controls the actual amount of current flowing to the blower motor.

I just want an on / off single pole switch for the blower motor.
The heat itself can be controlled from the blend door settings on the original controls.

I have already removed that crappy vacume thing that allows the hot water/coolant to flow to the heater core.

Any suggestions? Tips? Comments?
