96 Tank sender unit
Folks,
the Fuel gauge isn't working and it is starting to annoy me Trouble is I'm told that the unit is very expensive and hard to find in the JY because it's unreliable and specific to that model year.
Does anyone have any idea where I could get a replacement? Parts are a bit limited here in the UK but I'd be happy to pay international shipping from the US store if it saves money in the end...
So basically - can anyone recommend a good Jeep parts site in the US?
thanks,
Morat

I'm sure Advance Auto would do online transactions and ship to the UK via UPS or even USPS. I have heard of, but not seen, entire sending unit/fuel pump assemblies.
Also, the sending unit is not complicated. If you remove yours you may find that repairing the one you have might be easier than you think. They consist of a piece of copper contact foil glued to a plastic base and a little metal spring arm that rubs across the foil with some sort of variable resistance control that likely measures the fuel level by measuring the electrical signal. When I looked mine over, it seemed like a simple device.
