96 trans line connector
Firstly sorry for the simple basic question but hey, I'm just a basic simple kind of guy with a basic simple kind of brain it seems. Anyhoo, I replaced my power steering pump and radiator on my 96 XJ, 4x4 this weekend. Everything has gone well except for the lower trans line connection on the bottom right of the radiator (see image) For lack of a better technical term ... the trumpet mouth piece looking doohickey. I simple cannot get it to stop leaking. The little plastic clip seems fine and I've replaced the O ring but is still leaks. What is the secret?

There's 2 O rings with a spacer between them.
83504447 is the dealer part number for the kit.

I'll order that kit tomorrow. I'm positive that there was only one O ring when I pulled out the old radiator. A previous owner must have done something to the connector at some point

My guess is you rolled the O-Ring in the lower tranny line connector. When you go to slide the lower tranny line connector on the elbow on the radiator it is usually a good idea to put a little Vaseline on the elbow.

Thanks guys. Problem sorted and no leaks. My son did a quick run to a pull a part and cut that section from the line ( the trans was already taken so I doubt anyone wanted the used line) anyway. I pulled the clip, sleeve o rings and spacer out. Replaced the o rings with new ones and hooked it up. This was definitely different than what I pulled off of my old readiator. It had the clip a single o ring and then a brass sleeve with a little flare on the o ring end. I'm surprised it wasn't leaking. So in the last two weeks I've put in the power steering unit, a new radiator, hd tie rod and tre's, new drag link and spicer ball joints. Next up is probably brakes if I have good weather.
